During the Classical period, food was everywhere and no longer was it the top priorities of an empire. That's right, the civilizations of the past evolved even more.
With the evolution of Civilization, food also had a different purpose. Some were used to survive while others were for pure pleasure like wine which is created from grapes.
Also, by the kinds of food people ate, there was a distinctive trend in social structures. Typically, the higher class/nobles ate the "it" foods while the peasants and laborers
ate the traditional foods. Food also diffused greatly throughout the world with the creation of trade routes.

Region affected by food: Greece and Rome

There aren't really dates for what i have to say on Food affecting Greece and Rome. But in general, from the beginnings of these two great empires, they have been influenced by their food.
Their very culture is based on the natural world like the Greek god Dionysus. Like what i said earlier, the foods show what kind of person someone was back then because it was in
tradition that the nobles eat certain foods. Even if someone of low status could afford higher end foods, would they really buy it? No. because it was not part of tradition. During this time, food
didn't really affect the politics much if at all because it was of such a small concern for empires although much of the economy was based off farming by peasents. One great discovery was wine. Wine very much like beer impacted the way people acted.

Region affected by food: China (once again no dates)

In China, food continued to be a very significant part of culture and economy. As culture and religion got more complex, so did food. For instance the introduction of tea. At first, tea was just your
typical popular drink. Everyone drank it and everyone liked it. But with China having such a vast number of nobles, they decided to develop ceremonies. This fusion of tea into culture creates
a importance of it and ensures that the supply will never run out and significantly increasing trade.
Also, during the classical period, China developed many improved farming methods like ox drawn plows and braces that do not choke animals. These inventions were caused by the need of more food
because cities were growing quickly.
